2012 -Understanding the metabolic changes that occur with cardiac hypertrophy during pressure overload

By investigating the metabolite profile of heart tissue from mice that are incapable of regulating fatty acid metabolism, we were able to investigate the changes to metabolism during pressure overload (i.e. a model of hypertension). Turns out that amino acids may play a critical roll in adjusting to metabolic changes in the heart, especially when fat is not available.

Cardiac-specific deletion of acetyl CoA carboxylase 2 prevents metabolic remodeling during pressure-overload hypertrophy.
